Colleen’s Birthday Activities

Oct 13, 2023

Today, October 13, is Colleen’s birthday. Her 27 living years were a blessing to the Gleason family, relatives and her friends. We imagine what she would be wishing for on her 31st birthday, longing to give her another hug. Cheers Colleen!

Since physical hugging is no longer possible, we do the next best thing - we repeat one of her favorite activities - delighting others with random acts of kindness. One act at the top of her list was shopping and giving car loads of supplies and food to women shelters; we completed this one again with happiness! The surprised smiles we receive warm our hearts and we smile back, as if sending Colleen a secret message.

Red Shoe Society of Chicago, one of Colleen’s favorite charities, held its 5th Annual Par-Tee at Top Golf in Schaumburg, IL on October 15. The Gleason family is grateful to spend the morning of family-friendly golf competition while raising essential funds that help keep families with hospitalized children together.

We look forward to this event every year! We will continue to keep Colleen's philanthropic legacy alive.

Red Shoe helps support Ronald McDonald Houses of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana (RMHC), who tell us, “Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can have a place to stay. With your help, everyone will have a warm, friendly home away from home.”

Colleen contributed to volunteer hours in the years before she passed. Colleen Cares carries out her work with Red Shoe and RMHC with a variety of activities including Par-Tee @Topgolf.

At Top Golf, every great time starts with play. If you’re not familiar with Top Golf, players hit micro-chipped golf balls that track each shot’s accuracy and distance while awarding points for hitting targets on the outfield. All age and ability ranges can enjoy the game together.
