Colleen Gleason Community Spirit Award

May 20, 2024

The Junior League of Chicago (JLC) held their annual meeting on May 8. Among the awards is the “Colleen Gleason Community Spirit Award” in recognition of the passion a member or members have for helping others representing JLC and making a difference in the Chicago community.

Congratulations to Lexi Clinebell who volunteers with the Advocacy Committee and is the Chair of the Illinois State Public Affairs Committee (ILSPAC). League’s values are camaraderie, community service, and respect to all. This award will keep Colleen’s memory alive while honoring other outstanding JLC members.

“We are extremely proud that Colleen was a part of this organization and that our Colleen Cares Organization continues to support the JLC. This annual award keeps Colleen’s charitable and generous spirit alive while honoring outstanding JLC members.” - Christine Gleason

Junior League’s values of welcoming, camaraderie, commitment to the community, mentoring, thoughtful risk-taking and respect for the individuals they serve were evident in all the speeches and awards.

The 2024 Colleen Gleason Community Spirit Award was bestowed to Lexi Clinebell!

We also presented JLC with a $5,000.00 check. We are filled with gratitude to all our donors to Colleen Cares Organization which makes these donations possible.

Anne Marie Razza and Lisa Ward accompanied Christine Gleason in presenting a donation to Becky Hogan (JLC President, 2024) and Kristin Bernhard (previous JLC President)

“Colleen embodied the restlessness to bring about meaningful change. The idea that service is not something you do in your spare time or after you have reached your personal goals, but is something you make sacrifices to do today because you want to be part of the solution. That sense of feeling connected to our neighbors but also responsible for what happens.” - JLC President Becky Hogan (2024)
