Junior League of Chicago Receives Colleen Cares Donation
Sep 7, 2021
Your donations are helping the community in Colleen’s name!
Colleen Cares carried on Colleen’s amazing work by making a $10,000 donation to the Junior League of Chicago (JLC). Colleen so valued JLC's philosophies, spending many hours as a volunteer.
Since 1901, JLC has diligently worked to empower at-risk families - especially women and girls - through hands-on mentoring, advocacy and education.
“We are a group of women who volunteer. We serve the community, and we train leaders. That is our mission. Colleen was very passionate about it...She always brought light and sunshine and happiness to whatever she did for the Junior League.” - Anika Allen, Director of Diversity and Inclusion
Our donation will help with community projects in the areas of healthy lifestyles, human trafficking, adult life skills and education in the arts.
Colleen was involved in JLC’s commitment to develop exceptionally qualified civic leaders who can identify a community’s most urgent and pressing needs and address them with meaningful and relevant programs and initiatives that not only improve lives but change the way people think.
“Thank you again for your generous donation to the Junior League! We are honored to have had Colleen as a member and hope to help carry on her legacy!” - Melissa Schumacher, President 2020-2022, Junior League of Chicago
