The Gleason family is equally excited and honored to announce the Second Annual Camp Colleen now has an official date of Thursday, August 4, 2022. But wait, there’s more. The Red Shoe Society (RSS) Family Enrichment Committee is expanding Colleen’s camp vision to all five Chicagoland Ronald McDonald Houses (RMH). There are two meaningful ways you can help with 2022 Camp Colleen.

One way to help is to join us for a day of fun creating a one-day summer camp for the families staying at one of these Ronald McDonald Houses.

• We are looking for volunteers to assist with whatever is needed in the morning with decorating, meal prep, craft set up, and then leading activity stations into the early evening at Lurie Children’s in downtown Chicago.

• Additional volunteers are needed for camp meals at Comer Children’s Hospital near UChicago Medicine, Loyola University Medical Center in Hines, IL, Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, and NW Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL.

Red Shoe asks that volunteers be vaccinated against COVID to protect these families with children in fragile medical conditions. We will update this page when the official volunteer registration is available through RMH.

 A second meaningful way to help is a contribution or sponsorship of Camp Colleen meals. An average house meal costs a minimum of $300. Donations made in June and July will be allocated to supplies and food to make Camp Colleen 2022 a success! 

Last year’s Inaugural ‘Camp Colleen’ was enthusiastically received by all those privileged to attend. Join us in continuing Colleen’s magical idea complete with s’mores.
